Clear the Shelters campaign drives high animal adoption rates
The Clear the Shelters nationwide adoption campaign has facilitated significant pet adoptions at various locations. In San Francisco, the SF SPCA reported that 108 animals were adopted during a single-day event on August 22 where adoption fees were waived. This contributed to a monthly total of 523 adoptions at the center. Since the campaign's inception in 2015, more than 1 million pets have been adopted through the initiative.
In Whitman County, the Whitman County Humane Society held its annual ‘Barkinglot’ event in partnership with the campaign. Supported by local business sponsorships that covered fees for adult animals, the event saw a high turnout, resulting in nearly every available pet being placed in a home. Shelter director Katelynn English noted the event's importance in clearing the shelter and finding homes for available animals.
