ClearVue achieves industry‑first low‑E coating on BIPV glass
ClearVue Technologies announced a manufacturing breakthrough that allows its Gen 3 Vision photovoltaic glass to receive a soft low‑emissivity (Low‑E) coating on surface 4 after the photovoltaic cells have been laminated. The company says this placement delivers the greatest reduction in solar heat gain, meeting the performance requirements of commercial building façades.
The process was validated in a live production environment at AGC Interpane’s facility in Plattling, Germany, using a standard magnetron sputter‑coating line without any modifications to the existing float‑glass production line. The breakthrough enables the glass to combine on‑site renewable energy generation with high thermal performance while fitting into existing industrial‑scale coating facilities and supply chains. CEO Doug Hunt described the achievement as putting ClearVue in a class of its own and opening global commercial façade market opportunities.
