Clearwater to host 6th Annual Truth and Reconciliation Day

The North Thompson community is preparing for its 6th Annual Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day. The event is scheduled for September 30 at the Dutch Lake Community Centre in Clearwater.

Hosted by the North Thompson Aboriginal Cultural Centre and the BC Métis Federation, the gathering aims to honor survivors, their families, and children who died due to the residential school system. The event coincides with the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund’s ‘Secret Path’ project, which commemorates Chanie Wenjack, an Anishinaabe boy who died in 1966 while attempting to return home from a residential school.
