Cleitinho Azevedo announces audits for Minas Gerais government

Cleitinho Azevedo, the governor-elect of Minas Gerais, has announced plans to conduct audits across all state agencies and contracts once he assumes office in January. During a speech at the Senate, Azevedo criticized the current governor, Mateus Simões, accusing him of acting out of political vanity and warning that any attempts to undermine the transition would ultimately harm the population.

Azevedo specifically addressed concerns regarding the state's fiscal health, noting that the current administration is leaving a projected budget deficit of R$ 10.5 billion. He also expressed a commitment to transparency and meeting with industrial leaders, such as the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (Fiemg), to discuss economic development and competitiveness.

In a separate development, Azevedo missed a scheduled campaign event in Capelinha after experiencing a health issue in the Senate. Medical staff reported he suffered a spike in blood pressure and elevated heart rate but was cleared for rest following normal test results. Flávio Bolsonaro expressed well wishes for his ally, noting that Azevedo appeared underweight.
