Cleitinho Azevedo reaffirms support for Flávio Bolsonaro

Cleitinho Azevedo, the governor-elect of Minas Gerais, has reaffirmed his support for Flávio Bolsonaro in the second round of the presidential election. Azevedo stated his alignment with Bolsonaro due to shared right-wing values and gratitude for support received during his Senate election.

In his announcement, Azevedo outlined two primary demands for the federal government: the abolition of the 6x1 work schedule to benefit workers and the restructuring of Minas Gerais's R$ 200 billion debt to the Union, requesting that payments be redirected toward state infrastructure, security, and health.

Despite his support for Bolsonaro, Azevedo has maintained political channels with the Workers' Party (PT). Following his first-round victory, he reportedly contacted PT leaders, including Pedro Rousseff, expressing his intention to govern through dialogue with all political forces. This stance follows comments from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who suggested that Azevedo does not need to actively campaign for Bolsonaro and could simply remain “quiet” to protect his own political interests.
