Clemens Schwaiger named head of Kronen Zeitung while ORF postpones director elections

Clemens Schwaiger, a former McKinsey manager, will assume the top executive role of the Kronen Zeitung publishing group in Austria from 1 July, overseeing strategic development, participation management and new business areas. The appointment follows internal restructurings at the nation’s largest newspaper, which has recently returned to profitability after years of loss.

Separately, new ORF chief Clemens Pig has delayed the scheduled election of four central ORF directorates and the directors of nine regional studios. The vote, originally set for 21 July, is now pushed to early or mid‑August to allow a broader pool of applicants and a more transparent selection process in line with European media‑freedom regulations.
