Clemente Mastella criticizes 'campo largo' political model

Clemente Mastella, national secretary of Noi di Centro, has criticized the concept of 'campo largo' (wide field) political alliances, suggesting that successful political models should be sought within Italy, specifically citing the governance of Naples and the Campania region.

Mastella argued against looking toward international models like New York or Madrid, noting that Italian demographics and voting patterns, particularly regarding younger generations and the elderly, differ significantly. He also warned against the risks of internal party primaries, drawing a parallel to the 2016 US Democratic primaries, suggesting that internal friction can lead to voter abstention and ultimate electoral defeat.
