Clementine House: 18th-century building in Český Krumlov undergoes 25 million CZK renovation

A late 18th-century economic building in Český Krumlov, located on the banks of the Vltava river, has undergone a major renovation to become the Clementine House. The project, which cost approximately 25 million CZK and spanned from 2020 to 2026, transformed the structure into five apartments, a private residence, and a garden.

Architects Lucie Němcová and Tereza Komárková led a predominantly female design team to preserve the building's historical character, such as its stone walls and wooden beams, while introducing modern functional elements. Key features include a dark blue steel staircase that serves as a central landmark and large-format sliding panels featuring artwork by Patrik Hábel. The interior design emphasizes natural materials and intimacy, including unconventional layouts such as bathtubs placed directly within bedroom spaces.
