Clemson coach Dabo Swinney criticizes Florida State banner
Following Clemson’s 36-24 victory over Florida State, head coach Dabo Swinney criticized an airplane banner flown over Doak Campbell Stadium that called for the firing of Florida State coach Mike Norvell and Board of Trustees chair Peter Collins.
Swinney described the stunt as “embarrassing” and “disrespectful,” noting that the banner contained a spelling error in Norvell’s name. He defended Norvell’s character, stating that the coach is a “good man” and a father, and suggested that the personal nature of the attack was inappropriate. Swinney added that those responsible for the banner “ought to be ashamed” of their actions.
Regarding the team's performance, Swinney addressed Clemson’s 5-3 record, expressing confidence that the program is improving and is on a path to return to the top of college football by staying true to the “Clemson way.”
