Clemson coach Dabo Swinney defends roster management amid offensive struggles

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has defended his program’s roster construction and evaluation process following public criticism and a 20-16 loss to Virginia Tech. Addressing the possibility of adopting an NFL-style general manager model, Swinney emphasized the effectiveness of his current staff, specifically citing the contributions of Senior Director of Player Personnel Kevin Kelly and Jordan Sorrells.

Despite the defensive stability shown in recent play, Clemson’s offense has faced significant challenges. Pro Football Network Impact Grades rank Clemson’s season-long offensive grade 17th out of 17 ACC teams and 126th out of 138 FBS programs. While the offensive line has maintained a mid-tier national ranking, freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds and the overall offensive unit have struggled to maintain consistency, contributing to the team's 4-3 record.
