Clemson DT Vic Burley to be reinstated following suspension
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced the reinstatement of senior defensive tackle Vic Burley to the football roster. Burley, who was serving an indefinite suspension following an August arrest for public disorderly conduct, will miss the upcoming game against Georgia Southern but is expected to be available for the ACC opener against North Carolina on September 19.
According to police reports, Burley was arrested after being found asleep in a running vehicle with an odor of marijuana, a THC vape device, and a handgun. He received a conditional discharge from the Clemson Municipal Court and must complete community service, a drug and alcohol course, and an intervention program to have the charges dismissed.
In addition to Burley’s return, Swinney noted that transfer defensive tackle Kourtney Kelly is expected to return “sooner than later” following his recovery from a torn ACL. The return of both players is intended to bolster a defensive line currently facing depth challenges due to injuries.
