Lupoi, who previously served as a defensive coordinator at Oregon and Alabama, has been studying Clemson's offense, specifically focusing on true freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds. Reynolds enters the game following a successful first start where he led a comeback victory against North Carolina.

The matchup features a significant gap in coaching experience, as Swinney enters his 244th game with 189 career wins, while Lupoi is working his fourth game as a head coach.
