Clemson vs. Georgia Southern game delayed by lightning
The kickoff for the football game between the Clemson Tigers and the Georgia Southern Eagles at Memorial Stadium has been delayed due to lightning in the area. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
Lightning sirens were activated after strikes were detected within eight miles of the stadium. Under safety protocols, any lightning strike within an eight-mile radius triggers an automatic 30-minute delay, which resets if new strikes occur. As of 8:00 p.m. ET, the restart time remained uncertain, with potential kickoff times pushed back by an hour or more depending on warm-up requirements.
This marks the second consecutive game for Clemson to face weather-related delays, following a similar incident during their matchup against LSU. This is the fourth time the program has experienced a lightning delay within the last two seasons.
