Clermont faces emergency water shortage warning
The Isaac Regional Council has issued an emergency warning for the town of Clermont, stating that the community of approximately 3,000 residents could run out of water as early as Tuesday night. The council has urged residents to immediately cease all outdoor water use and restrict indoor consumption to essential needs such as drinking, cooking, hygiene, and toilet use.
The shortage is attributed to a failure in the water pump driver at the Theresa Creek Dam, which prevents water from being moved to the treatment plant. A spokesperson noted that the issue is likely related to a blockage in an intake pipe. Divers have been deployed to inspect and clear the blockage while the council relies on existing stores to maintain the supply.
