Cleveland Browns defeat Carolina Panthers in home opener comeback
The Cleveland Browns secured a 21-18 comeback victory over the Carolina Panthers in their home opener at Huntington Bank Field. Quarterback Deshaun Watson led the late fourth-quarter rally, throwing two touchdown passes to tight end Harold Fannin Jr., including the decisive 14-yard strike with 1:48 remaining.
The win moves the Browns to a 2-1 record. Watson, who had faced significant criticism and boos from fans during the preseason, received cheers from the home crowd following his performance. He finished the game with 144 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 45 rushing yards.
The Panthers, led by quarterback Bryce Young, held an 18-13 lead late in the game before the Browns' comeback. Despite outgaining Cleveland 360-259, Carolina was unable to hold the lead, and a late interception by Ronnie Hickman sealed the win for Cleveland.
