Chad Ochocinco suggested that Watson’s $46 million annual salary made his selection inevitable, noting that the team may make a change if they start the season with an 0-2 record. Similarly, J.J. Watt remarked that the Browns’ $230 million fully guaranteed investment in Watson likely influenced the outcome if the competition between players was close.

Despite facing significant booing from fans during the preseason, Monken stated he is “absolutely not” bothered by the backlash. He emphasized that his decisions must be based on what is best for the team’s ability to create explosive plays and win games.
