Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson secures starting role

Deshaun Watson has solidified his position as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns following a 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The win extends Cleveland's winning streak to three games and brings their season record to 3-1. Watson completed 24 of 33 passes for 268 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, leading a critical fourth-quarter drive that set up a winning field goal.

Despite Watson's recent performance, former NFL quarterback RGIII has criticized the narrative surrounding Watson's comeback. Speaking on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’, RGIII argued that the public is being ‘done a disservice’ by glossing over Watson's previous off-field issues and suggested that backup Shedeur Sanders was a more deserving candidate for the starting role.

Internal reports from the Browns suggest that the quarterback room remains a cohesive unit. While social media speculation suggested Shedeur Sanders was frustrated by his backup role following a viral sideline clip, sources indicate Sanders was celebratory in the locker room and maintains a positive relationship with Watson and other teammates, including Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green.
