Cleveland Cavaliers exercise Jaylon Tyson's fourth-year option
The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced they are exercising the fourth-year team option on guard Jaylon Tyson for the 2027-28 season. The move ensures Tyson will play the final year of his rookie contract, earning approximately $5.64 million.
By exercising this option, the Cavaliers are positioning themselves to secure full bird rights, which facilitates future contract extensions and grants the team the right of first refusal should Tyson enter restricted free agency. This decision follows a breakout sophomore campaign for the former 20th overall pick. During the 2025-26 season, Tyson averaged 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while playing 26.9 minutes per game.
Tyson demonstrated significant efficiency, recording a 49.3% field goal percentage and a 44.6% three-point percentage, the latter of which ranked fourth in the NBA. His performance earned him a selection to compete in the Rising Stars Challenge.
