Cleveland, Georgia considers municipal annexation plans
City officials in Cleveland, Georgia, are evaluating potential annexation plans to align municipal boundaries with existing utility service areas. The proposed expansion focuses on primary transportation and growth corridors.
To the south, the city is considering extending its limits approximately 1.6 miles along Highway 129, from the current boundary near Truelove Road to Westmoreland Road. This proposal would include the highway right-of-way and parcels directly fronting the road, though officials stated that no residential tracts or non-adjoining parcels are being considered for annexation.
To the north, White County has requested that Cleveland annex the right-of-way along Helen Highway from the current city limits up to Hulsey Road, where the county government complex is located. The city already provides utility services along this corridor toward the Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Urgent Care facility.
