Chicago White Sox lose to Guardians following managerial error

The game was marked by a significant managerial error by White Sox manager Will Venable. Under MLB Rule 5.10(l), a team is limited to one mound visit per pitcher per inning. After pitching coach Zach Bove had already visited starter Noah Schultz, Venable made a second visit to the mound to discuss an appeal play. This forced the mandatory removal of Schultz after he had faced only five batters and allowed two runs.

Following Schultz's early exit, reliever David Sandlin struggled, eventually giving up six earned runs. In response to recent pitching struggles, the White Sox have reportedly called up top prospects Hagen Smith and Tanner McDougal to the major league roster.
