Cleveland historic church destroyed by incendiary fire

A massive fire has destroyed the historic Friendship Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. The building, which dates back to the 1890s, was originally constructed as a synagogue before being used by Christian congregations.

Local fire officials have confirmed that the blaze was incendiary, though investigators have not yet established a specific motive. Authorities stated that financial motives are not believed to be the cause. More than 14 fire companies responded to the two-alarm blaze, which resulted in the collapse of the roof and the total loss of the structure. While the damage is estimated at approximately $500,000, officials noted the historical value of the building is irreplaceable.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The remains of the building have since been demolished as investigators continue their work.
