Clever Built Cabins grows from DIY project to £150,000 business

John McClelland, a former financial crime investigator at Santander, has launched Clever Built Cabins, a business specializing in log cabins, residential cabins, garden rooms, and glamping pods. The venture originated from a personal project ten years ago when McClelland built a woodland cabin in Scotland using a flat-pack kit despite having no prior construction experience.

Following redundancy, McClelland developed the business during evenings and weekends. With digital marketing support from the agency ClickBoost, the company secured its first customer within weeks. Clever Built Cabins now manages projects valued between £20,000 and £150,000, supplying customers across the UK and providing installation services throughout Scotland.
