Clicks Group acquires controlling stake in ARC Store for R507 million

Clicks Group has increased its stake in premium beauty retailer ARC Store to 61% following a R507 million acquisition of an additional 35.3% interest from founding shareholders. This transaction moves Clicks from a 25.7% stake to a controlling interest in the specialist retailer.

The deal aims to expand Clicks Group’s presence in South Africa’s premium beauty market, which is valued at over R6 billion annually. ARC, founded in 2020, currently operates 12 stores in major shopping malls, including its Sandton City location, which is noted as the largest beauty store in Africa. The retailer plans to expand its physical footprint to between 20 and 30 stores in the medium term.

Under the agreement, ARC’s current executive management has committed to remaining with the company until at least 2028 to ensure continuity. The transaction is subject to approval from competition authorities.
