Célida López calls for resignation of Hermosillo Mayor
Célida López Córdoba, the newly appointed coordinator for the Defense of the 4T and National Sovereignty for Morena in Hermosillo, has called for the resignation of Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez.
López accused the mayor of neglecting the city's social issues to focus on a political campaign for the governorship of Sonora. She stated that Astiazarán is playing a “double game” and that his primary interest is no longer serving the citizens of Hermosillo but pursuing a future candidacy.
Upon assuming her new role, López expressed her commitment to working alongside Morena state leader Lorenia Valles and state leader Judith Armenta Cota. She indicated that her appointment follows an evaluation of her political positioning and competitiveness. Additionally, Armenta confirmed that the political alliance between Morena, the Labor Party (PT), and the Green Ecological Party of Mexico (PVEM) remains intact for the 2027 electoral process.
