Climate activists breach Bromma airport runway in Sweden

Climate activists from Red Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion breached the perimeter of Bromma airport in Stockholm on Saturday morning. The protesters climbed over fences to access the runway for an unauthorized demonstration.

Police reported that one individual glued themselves to the nose wheel of an aircraft before being removed by authorities. Five people have been arrested on suspicion of airport sabotage, four are suspected of violating the Protective Security Act, and ten others have been reported for disobedience to law enforcement.

Extinction Rebellion, which began in London in 2018, aims to highlight climate issues through civil disobedience. Their demands include declaring a climate and biodiversity emergency and reducing Sweden’s net emissions to zero by 2025.
