Climate adaptation training in China and rainfall warnings in British Columbia

Government officials from Antigua and Barbuda have completed a two-week seminar in China focused on climate change adaptation and early warning systems. Technical Officer Zariya Russell and Communications Officer J’noure Smith-Kellman studied meteorological monitoring, disaster preparedness, and methods for communicating warnings effectively to the public to ensure timely and understandable guidance during emergencies.

In Canada, Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for parts of Southern British Columbia and the Central Coast. A robust frontal system is expected to bring heavy rain, with amounts ranging from 50 to 70 millimetres in the Lower Mainland and up to 100 millimetres along the Central Coast. The warning includes advisories for strong winds and potential water pooling on roads in areas such as Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and West Vancouver Island.
