Climate Change Center hosts Solar Fairs in Bitola and Prilep
The Climate Change Center organized Solar Fairs in the Macedonian cities of Bitola and Prilep to promote renewable energy sources and educate citizens on solar power alternatives.
In Bitola, the event focused on helping households achieve energy independence through solar panels. Participants learned how they can produce electricity for personal use and sell excess energy back to the grid. Demonstrations included solar stoves capable of reaching 200 degrees Celsius, thermal solar collectors for hot water, and even energy generation via active bicycles.
The fair in Prilep aimed to introduce the concept of the ‘prosumer’—individuals who both produce and consume their own electricity. The event featured technical information on photovoltaic systems and interactive workshops for children. These activities are part of a project to strengthen positive perceptions of a just energy transition, coordinated by CAN Europe and co-financed by the European Union.
