Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan elevate relations to alliance
Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan have elevated their bilateral relations to an alliance following a state visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Kyrgyzstan. The two nations signed a Treaty on Allied Relations, marking the highest institutional level of their strategic partnership. This development occurs amid Azerbaijan’s increasing engagement with Central Asian nations through frameworks like the Organization of Turkic States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Separately, at the Climate Week in Baku, Cuba presented its adaptation and resilience priorities to an international audience of scientists and government officials. The Cuban delegation highlighted the challenges developing nations face in accessing climate financing and technology. They specifically noted that the economic and energy blockade imposed by the United States complicates the island’s ability to respond to extreme weather events and strengthen essential infrastructure in sectors such as water, agriculture, and health.
