Climate change initiatives in Switzerland and Germany

Various regional initiatives are addressing climate change through educational research and community coordination. In Switzerland, students at Kantonsschule Zug conducted the ‘Klimagarten 2085’ project. This research involved using three greenhouses to simulate future temperature increases of +2-3 °C and +4-6 °C to study the effects on local ecosystems, including nettle growth, butterfly larvae development, wildflower biodiversity, duckweed in warmer waters, and grass frog tadpoles.

In Germany, a new climate office has launched a webinar series titled ‘Klima, Energie und Kirche’ (Climate, Energy, and Church). The initiative aims to facilitate knowledge exchange among church communities regarding climate protection, energy costs, and sustainable transitions. Topics include the implementation of heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, digital energy monitoring tools, and the creation of biodiverse cemeteries.
