Climate Coalition to hold march in Brussels for fossil fuel exit

The Climate Coalition is organizing a new climate march in Brussels this Sunday, October 11. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at Brussels North Station and will proceed toward Schuman, passing through locations such as Boulevard du Jardin Botanique, Madou, and Rue de la Loi.

Under the slogan “Tout le monde y va” (Everyone is going), the coalition aims to demand a concrete plan to phase out fossil fuels and secure more funding for the energy transition. Key demands include taxing fossil fuel profits and reducing government subsidies for fossil fuels, which reportedly exceeded 15 billion euros in Belgium in 2024. The organizers also advocate for increased nature conservation, a socially just transition, and greater international cooperation on climate policy.

The march also serves as a tribute to firefighters and residents affected by recent extreme heat and wildfires. As part of the campaign, the Manneken Pis statue is expected to wear a special costume representing the climate movement on Sunday morning.
