Climate Industry International Expo opens in Busan
The 2026 Climate Industry International Expo (WCE) opened at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea, running from September 16 to 18. The event, themed ‘Climate Tech Creating Great Change: A Leap Toward a Decarbonized World,’ features 552 companies showcasing innovations aimed at green transitions in economy and society.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment alongside the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the World Bank, the expo emphasizes international cooperation in renewable energy, energy security, and climate tech investment. Key speakers included Fatih Birol of the IEA and Francesco La Camera of IRENA, both of whom highlighted South Korea’s role in global energy supply chains and its vision for an electrified nation.
At the expo, SK Innovation is presenting integrated energy solutions designed to meet the surging power demands of the AI era. Their showcase includes renewable energy pipelines, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Small Modular Reactors (SMR) in collaboration with TerraPower, and high-efficiency LNG cogeneration. The company aims to provide customized energy packages, combining various sources to support large-scale users like AI data centers.
