Climate justice and activism highlighted in Bangladesh and Sweden
Climate activism and adaptation efforts are being highlighted through various lenses. In Bangladesh, ActionAid has launched a project in the coastal areas of Satkhira and Cox’s Bazar. This initiative, funded by Sida, focuses on strengthening community resilience by empowering women-led civil society actors. Support includes training for cultivating salt-tolerant crops and restoring local dams to improve water access.
In Sweden, climate protests have gained momentum. Following a massive 24-hour demonstration in Stockholm involving over 50,000 participants and 280 organizations, local residents have expressed support for the movement. These activists criticize government subsidies for the oil and aviation industries and call for stronger climate policies to protect food security, health, and the economy.
