Climbers summit Mamakar Mountain in Kars to promote regional tourism
Climbers from Kars and Kağızman have successfully reached the summit of the 3,222-meter Mamakar Mountain in the Çemçe-Madur region. The area, located on the border between Kars and Ağrı, was previously known for security concerns but has transitioned into a destination for nature sports following counter-terrorism operations.
Led by the Kars Mountaineering Provincial Representative, the group placed a Turkish flag and an informational sign at the peak to promote the region's natural beauty. Harun Çalkın, a professional climber and representative, stated that the goal is to promote the local area and discover new routes for professional climbing and hiking. Harun Ağdaş, the Kağızman Mountaineering President, added that efforts are underway to prepare similar signage for other mountains in the region to encourage tourism and outdoor activities.
