Prosecutors allege that Georgescu and Potra met on December 7, 2024, to coordinate a plan involving militarily trained individuals to create chaos in Bucharest during protests following the annulment of the 2024 presidential elections. Georgescu is specifically accused of complicity in the attempted attack on the constitutional order and the continuous communication of false information. Potra faces additional charges regarding weapons, ammunition, and explosives regulations, as well as public incitement.

The first hearing concluded with an adjournment after Georgescu failed to appear in court. The court granted the request of his legal team, and the trial is scheduled to resume on September 28. Previously, the High Court of Cassation and Justice had rejected challenges to the preliminary chamber procedure in August 2026, allowing the trial to proceed on its merits. Potra, who was apprehended in Dubai in September 2025, is currently under judicial control after his house arrest was lifted by the High Court on September 3.
