Moldova IT Park seeks EU tax transition period

Moldovan authorities are negotiating with the European Union to maintain preferential tax regimes for the Moldova IT Park following EU accession. Officials have requested a transition period of five to six years to allow the approximately 3,000 resident companies to continue benefiting from existing facilities.

Currently, these companies pay a unique 7% tax, a rate guaranteed by law until 2035. The discussions are part of the preparations for negotiations regarding Chapter 10, which covers information society and mass media. The government aims to find a solution that preserves competitiveness without violating EU state aid rules. An inter-institutional working group is currently analyzing two options: adapting existing facilities to EU norms or maintaining an autonomous fiscal regime.
