Clinical Hospital Štip construction slated to resume in 2027
Construction for the completion of the Clinical Hospital in Štip is projected to begin in the summer or autumn of 2027. North Macedonian Minister of Health Sasho Klevkoski announced that the timeline depends on finalizing financing agreements with the World Bank and the European Investment Bank by the end of this year.
Following the funding agreements, a tender process to select a contractor is expected to last between three and six months. Klevkoski described the unfinished facility as a ‘monument to incompetence’ and acknowledged that the current working and patient conditions are poor, noting that the project serves over 200,000 patients in the eastern and southeastern regions.
Additionally, repairs to a section of the hospital damaged by severe weather are currently stalled due to an appeal regarding site supervision. Work on the roof repairs will commence once the legal dispute is resolved.
