Clinton Stagecoach Cafe Feeds Firefighters During BC Wildfires

For six consecutive days in late July 2026, the Stagecoach Cafe in Clinton, British Columbia, co‑owned by Maria and Nicholas Kosovic, supplied breakfast, lunch and dinner to crews of the BC Wildfire Service battling the Fiftynine Creek and Pear Lake fires. The café opened as early as 3 a.m. and stayed open until 11 p.m., doubling its normal output to provide meals that were "at least double the size of an average customer" to meet the high caloric needs of the firefighters. Community members, local businesses and the 100 Mile House Food Bank contributed food and assistance, allowing the café to break even on the operation. Firefighters referred to Maria as “Mama Maria,” and the effort was praised by the town’s mayor for helping protect the local watershed.
