Clinton, British Columbia receives wildfire relief donations

A convoy of donations including food, clothing, and money has arrived in Clinton, British Columbia, to support residents following the Pear Lake fire. The delivery took place on August 22, one week after residents began returning to the area following evacuations triggered by the fire on July 24.

Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Lorne Doerkson and Thompson-Nicola Regional District Director Jim Smith assisted in delivering several truckloads of goods to the Clinton Food Bank Society and Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle. Doerkson acted as an unofficial coordinator to unify various relief efforts, including contributions from a group known as ‘Chilliwack for Cariboo’.

Donations were temporarily stored in 100 Mile House before being transported to Clinton once the local food bank was able to receive them. The relief efforts aim to assist community members who lost homes or property during the wildfire.
