Clinton Foundation launches nonpartisan policy institute for state and local governments

The Clinton Foundation announced the creation of the Clinton Policy Institute (CPI), its first new initiative in more than a decade. CPI is intended to help state and local governments develop evidence‑based, bipartisan solutions on issues such as women’s and children’s health, economic security, and democratic governance. The institute will be led by former White House Domestic Policy Council deputy director Zayn Siddique as executive director and former White House Gender Policy Council chair Jennifer Klein as president.

CPI builds on previous work with New York, where it partnered with Governor Kathy Hochul to ban smartphones in classrooms and formed a Teen Tech Council that allowed students to shape the policy. The effort has drawn bipartisan praise, including from Kansas Governor Laura Kelly. Hillary Rodham Clinton emphasized the focus on “states and local communities, where so much innovation is happening,” while Bill and Chelsea Clinton highlighted the foundation’s track record of practical policymaking.
