Clippers name Trent Redden interim president of basketball operations
The Los Angeles Clippers have appointed Trent Redden as interim president of basketball operations. Redden, who previously served as general manager, takes over the role from Lawrence Frank, who has received a six-month suspension from the NBA.
This leadership shuffle follows an investigation into salary-cap circumvention. In addition to the suspensions of Frank and owner Steve Ballmer, who is serving a one-year suspension, the franchise has been fined $30 million and stripped of five first-round draft picks.
To maintain continuity, assistant general manager Mark Hughes will assume Redden’s former duties as general manager. The organizational changes were announced by interim governor and CEO John Gibson, who is overseeing the franchise during Ballmer’s suspension.
