Clínica Universidad de los Andes offers free robotic oncology surgeries

Clínica Universidad de los Andes has launched a new initiative to provide 40 free robotic oncology surgeries. The program is specifically designed for Fonasa patients suffering from colon or prostate cancer who are currently on waiting lists within the public health system.

Scheduled to begin on October 14, the program aims to identify eligible patients based on clinical and social criteria in the coming weeks. Dr. Francisco Espinoza, the clinic's medical director, stated that the institution possesses the necessary medical capacity, technology, and resources to bridge the gap in access to these specialized procedures.

This initiative is part of the clinic's broader Free Surgery Program, which has already provided no-cost operations to more than 2,700 people. The funding for these surgeries is sourced from donations to the Fundación U andes, contributions from the Fundación Careno, and revenue from the clinic's parking facilities.
