Cloud Desserts owners share journey of overcoming forced marriage

Business owners Kayee Reddy and his partner Gianni have opened Cloud Desserts in Launceston, a venture they describe as a symbol of freedom and purpose. The couple shared their personal history of overcoming homophobia and an arranged marriage to build their new life.

Reddy, a British-born South Asian, recounted being pressured by extended family due to his sexual orientation. He stated that he was sent to Pakistan and forced into an arranged marriage, during which his passport and money were confiscated. Gianni assisted in his return to the UK by arranging a flight under the pretense of urgent heart surgery. Seeking a fresh start, the pair eventually settled in Cornwall to establish their business.
