Cloud Imperium Games launches free Star Citizen trial until Aug 10

Cloud Imperium Games has opened its Star Citizen Alpha to all players for free as part of the Foundation Festival 2026. The "Free Fly" event runs through 10 August, allowing new and returning pilots to test five different ships – the RSI Aurora Mk II, Drake Cutter, Crusader Intrepid, Drake Golem and RSI Salvation – without purchasing any game package.

Participants must create a free account on Roberts Space Industries, download the RSI Launcher and install Star Citizen. No payment information is required, though users should verify that their PCs meet the system requirements. The festival also rewards guided sessions where experienced players help newcomers, offering exclusive in‑game items.

The initiative highlights the ongoing crowdfunding success of Star Citizen, which has surpassed $1 billion in support, and aims to attract fresh players to the space‑simulation MMO.
