Cloud-native media production tools evolve for live broadcasting

New developments in cloud-native media production are addressing the limitations of traditional hardware-based broadcast workflows. At IBC 2026, Grabyo is introducing Grabyo Live, an upgraded cloud-native platform designed to scale live content output without increasing complexity. The platform allows production teams to create multiple, visually distinct video mixes from a single production. This enables the simultaneous creation of primary broadcasts, vertical feeds for social media, and regional versions with different graphics or commentary, all within the same control room.

In a related shift toward cloud-native workflows, the Time Addressable Media Store (TAMS) offers a model that organizes media by time rather than individual files. Developed from BBC Research & Development work, TAMS allows applications to access timestamped segments via an open API. When paired with Backblaze B2 storage and partners like LiveWyer, CuttingRoom, and Drastic Technologies, this approach allows editors to access content while a live event is still in progress, facilitating faster highlights and social media distribution without the need for proprietary copies.
