Cloud security strategies shift toward continuous validation and DSPM

As enterprises increasingly adopt multi-cloud environments, security strategies are shifting toward continuous validation and specialized data management to address growing complexities.

Traditional security testing models, which often treated cloud systems like on-premise networks, are becoming inadequate due to the rapid scaling and constant changes in cloud assets. To counter this, organizations are moving toward continuous validation and structured penetration testing that mimics real-world attack patterns. This approach helps identify exposed services, weak access controls, and configuration errors before they can be exploited.

Identity management has emerged as a primary battleground, with attackers increasingly targeting credentials rather than software vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the use of multiple cloud providers—such as AWS, Azure, and GCP—creates challenges in maintaining unified visibility. The lack of centralized tracking can lead to 'shadow data,' including unmanaged storage and forgotten databases. To mitigate these risks, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) is being utilized to provide a framework focused on securing data itself across diverse platforms, helping to manage inconsistent security policies and complex identity and access management (IAM) requirements.
