Cloud9 eliminated from Worlds 2026 after loss to FURIA

The League of Legends Worlds 2026 tournament has seen significant early upsets during the Play-In stage. Cloud9, the LCS third seed, has become the first major team eliminated from the competition after losing 3-1 to the Brazilian squad FURIA.

Despite Cloud9 winning the first map of the series, FURIA managed a comeback to secure the victory. This marks a historic low for the North American organization, which had previously never been eliminated during a preliminary phase of the World Championship.

In other notable performances, MVK Esports from Vietnam delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over FURIA. During this match, MVK Esports player Chika set a new record for damage per minute (DPM) as a midlaner, reaching 1554 DPM in just 27 minutes and surpassing the previous record held by Chovy.
