Cloudflare announces upcoming 1.0 release of EmDash CMS

Cloudflare has announced the upcoming release of version 1.0 of EmDash, its modern content management system (CMS). The transition to a 1.0 release signifies that the software is moving from its initial developer beta and preview stages into a stable, production-ready state.

EmDash is designed to address the performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities that have affected WordPress for decades. Written entirely in TypeScript, the system is serverless but allows for deployment on private hardware. Cloudflare has already successfully migrated its own blog to the new platform.

Positioning itself as the ‘spiritual successor to WordPress’, EmDash has drawn attention due to the dominance of WordPress, which powers over 40% of the internet. Cloudflare noted that while WordPress has been a massive success, the infrastructure for hosting websites has evolved significantly since the platform's inception, necessitating a modern upgrade to leverage globally distributed networks.
