Cloudflare blocks AI training crawlers as agentic AI transforms marketing
The digital marketing landscape is undergoing significant shifts driven by advancements in agentic AI and changes in web crawling policies. Agentic AI is emerging as a proactive tool capable of autonomous decision-making, real-time campaign optimization, and hyper-personalization by analyzing data to predict customer behavior.
Simultaneously, web infrastructure is changing how search engines access data. Cloudflare has announced a policy to block all major search engine crawlers used for AI training, a setting that will be enabled by default for its customers, who represent approximately 25% of the internet. This move targets crawlers from Google, Microsoft, and Apple. Because Google utilizes the same bots for indexing as it does for data collection, these blocks may impact site indexing, search rankings, and the ability of major search engines to deliver results.
