Cloudflare launches Python Workers for general availability
Cloudflare has announced the general availability of Python Workers, transitioning the feature from a two-year preview period to a fully supported, production-ready component of its developer platform. This update allows developers to run Python applications on Cloudflare’s global serverless infrastructure without managing traditional servers.
By utilizing Pyodide—a CPython version compiled to WebAssembly—Cloudflare enables Python to function as a first-class language alongside JavaScript and TypeScript. The environment supports popular web frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, and Flask.
Python Workers can integrate directly with various Cloudflare services, including Workers AI for machine learning models, D1 for serverless SQL databases, and R2 for object storage. This integration is particularly significant for the artificial intelligence ecosystem, which relies heavily on Python for orchestration and model connectivity.
