Cloudflare launches AI agents' programmable stablecoin wallets
Cloudflare announced the launch of Cloudflare Wallets and the cloudflare.pay service, giving artificial‑intelligence agents a verifiable digital identity and a programmable stablecoin wallet. The system splits into two wallet types: an Account Wallet that is funded and managed by a human or organization, and a Virtual Wallet that agents use via API keys. Account owners can set spending caps, approved merchant lists and per‑transaction limits, allowing agents to purchase APIs, data and other online content without human approval for each transaction. Payments run on the x402 protocol, a stablecoin micropayment standard co‑developed with Coinbase, and are integrated with Cloudflare’s Monetization Gateway. Handles for wallets can be reserved now; full funding, on‑ramp and off‑ramp capabilities are expected in the coming months. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said the rollout addresses the “identity and payment problem” of the emerging agentic commerce ecosystem.
